Freelance job bidding sites posts "jobs" that pay people practically nothing to fill out these forms. So, while it is sad, the person who actually filled out the contact form is probably just trying to earn a living and is fulfilling the job requirement. Whoever posted the job and is paying almost nothing for this type of link building strategy is the one who is truly "sad". That’s right Susan, idiotic is an apt term

A couple of things I didn’t realise at first:
1) There’s a box on the contact form that specifically asks for a web URL
2) The form has a “captcha” preventing it from being automatically filled in, or as much as possible I mean it won’t stop the old copy ‘n’ paste.

There’s someone out there going from site to site just filling out forms. Brings a whole new meaning to sad.

I received the same exact email. Clearly, it’s being blasted around the web. I get lots of these idiotic link requests, as I’m sure other people do too. Most come from SEO companies located in Third World countries who not only don’t understand how linking should work but also lack English writing skills.

Just delete these requests. They’re not any more worthy of your anger or your time than spam offering organ enhancement (at least those emails are sometimes amusing).

As for the mention of Collective Inkwell, it would appear that’s how the spammer found your blog. You must have a link on Collective Inkwell, perhaps from a comment you made.

There’s a word for people like those, and it starts with A*****E.

I’ve had similar, and deleted them. The hide of the spammers to go through a site such as Collective Inkwell and spam commenters! At least they had good taste in sites…..

It really shows that they have no idea how google works. Random links from unrelated sites don’t rank highly for SEO. Go write your content and get your links the same way the rest of us do – by earning them.
