What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.
- Romeo & Juliet Act II, Scene ii
Unfortunately in a world where branding is paramount to one’s perceived identity including, but not limited to honesty and integrity, Juliet’s words are rather meaningless. With that in mind I’ve been giving some serious thought to this domain/site name. If I want to make a serious go of freelance writing should I continue using the name boyohazard or switch to something else?
I’m immediately struck by the thought that I’m no longer a boy and ‘hazard’ is not a positive branding word for business! On the other hand it is representative of my Welsh sense of humour and the domain is around 4 years old (important for Search Engine stuff). If I did decide to change “names” what should I go for? My full name? That would be 13 letters long and not very easy to remember (unless your Polish). Maybe something like Writer Dad or Copyblogger? (I wonder how they came up with their names.) My track record for namingĀ (boyohazard) doesn’t fill me with inspiration however!
I’d really love to get some feedback on this. What do you think when you read the name boyohazard? Would you hire someone who calls himself boyohazard? Should IĀ scrap it now while I’m yet to build my brand or take the plunge and keep it?

I suppose WelshBastard is out? >D
Hmm, something with a Welsh feel that doesn’t involve swearing, immature themes or mentions of sheep…
What about OwainsScholar?
Longbow?
LeekyLibrarian?
Torchwoody?
MerlinsApprentice?
CelticSeer?
Yeah bastard isn’t much better than hazard really!
Some great suggestions there, thanks Jessie.
